The York Pride Cabaret stage
brought to you by QueerArts & Jorvik Radio

The QueerArts stage returns for the second year to York Pride to show off local talent and run workshops and community activity. This opportunity invites performers from diverse backgrounds to showcase their talents and celebrate the spirit of pride. The stage will be hosted by Adam Coggin and Ginger Slice. Adam is an experienced presenter having previously working for Minster FM and now co-hosts Refresh Rewind on a Sunday 12pm  – 2pm.

He’s also a director at Jorvik Radio. Ginger is well know on the York Drag circuit and is co-host on the Robynne & Ginger show on a Sunday 6-8PM.

“We are so excited to provide a platform for local LGBTQ+ artists to showcase their talents and share their stories at York Pride,” said Lou Bartley Sophocleous, Community Coordinator at QueerArts York. “QueerArts are committed to uplift voices from our community and celebrate diversity through the power of art.”

For those who are eager to explore performance but not yet ready to take the stage, QueerArts York offers alternative avenues for artistic expression. Individuals can join the QueerArts Choir or participate in Jive Classes to connect with like-minded individuals and hone their skills in a supportive environment. If you’d rather be backstage/behind the scenes, QueerArts are also looking for volunteers for Pride.

QueerArts York has curated a full programme of arts, dance, and music classes scheduled between now and November. These classes provide valuable opportunities for LGBTQ+ individuals to express themselves creatively and engage with their community.

“I’m thrilled that Jorvik Radio has the opportunity to support such a fantastic event alongside QueerArts York. Jorvik Radio has a history of supporting LGBTQIA+ artists, and we’re proud to be on stage hosting the QueerArts stage this year, celebrating everything that makes York Pride so special.

Last year, the QueerArts stage celebrated some incredible talent from various backgrounds, showing what a creative and diverse city York is. If you’re thinking of applying to perform this year, my advice is to go for it!.”
